A <strong>42.195 km<\/strong> route in the middle of May, criss-crossing the magnificent Swiss countryside and the heart of the beautiful city of Geneva. So if you&#8217;d like to challenge yourself physically and mentally in the company of motivated, energetic people in sumptuous scenery, don&#8217;t hesitate any longer&#8230;this marathon in the heart of Geneva is for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But how do you prepare for an event like a marathon? <strong>Training, nutrition and equipment<\/strong>&#8230; Come and discover all my tips for a successful spring run!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Marathon training<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, marathon training begins <strong>4 months<\/strong> before the race. During these weeks of preparation, the first thing to remember is to<a href=\"https:\/\/samysart.com\/en\/the-7-best-outdoor-sports-spots-in-geneva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <strong>train on terrain similar to the event<\/strong><\/a>. <strong>The famous Generali Gen\u00e8ve marathon<\/strong> takes place both in the countryside and in the city, so alternate training sessions between concrete and country roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jogging sessions: a must for such an event<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Train <strong>your cardio <\/strong>by jogging <strong>.<\/strong> This simply involves running in moderation. It&#8217;s essential to prepare your body with these slower running sessions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a good<strong> warm-up, <\/strong>essential before every jog, start with <strong>2-hour <\/strong>sessions and increase the pace to <strong>2 hours 45 minutes <\/strong>as you go along. Don&#8217;t pull on the rope and always listen to your body. Eat poultry, eggs, white fish and tuna, for example.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To limit the risk of gastrointestinal upset during a marathon, <strong>cut down on fiber-rich foods<\/strong> such as wholegrain cereals, legumes, raw vegetables, seeds and oilseeds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And above all, <strong>reduce the amount of high-fat foods,<\/strong> especially for the pre-race meal. Go to a sports store and make sure you have shoes that support you properly, but don&#8217;t forget that your feet swell during exercise and that sometimes going up a size may be a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the marathon takes place at the beginning of May in the beautiful city of Geneva, the weather is both mild and rainy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equip yourself with <strong>breathable running clothes, <\/strong>preferring a lightweight short-sleeved top with semi-long bottoms. Take a waterproof jacket with you in case of rain during the race in Geneva.
